India's Top 20 Companies


Fortune India has ranked India's 50 Most Admired companies, for the first time, in its March issue.
At No. 20 on the list is Hindustan Petroleum.

The rankings are done in partnership with the Hay Group. Corporations are rated on the parameters of consistency, quality, talent management, corporate governance, social responsibility and delivering value to investors. The cover story also includes the sectoral rankings, covering 15 key sectors. At No.19. is Indian Oil.

At No.18 is Hewlett-Packard India

The companies were shortlisted from 15 industries on the basis of their size, contribution to national GDP, growth rate, maturity of industry, competition within the industry, the minimum number of players in the industry and their national presence. Ranked at No.18 on the list is IT company Hewlett-Packard India.

At Rank No.17 is Bharat Petroleum. The survey took into consideration a pool of 507 executives across 291 companies satisfying a set of qualifications, which included at least 12 years of work experience, five years of industry-specific experience, and three years in the current company.

Oil and gas exploration and production company ONGC is ranked at No.16.

Textile giant Raymond is ranked at No.15.on the list

Pharmaceuticals company GlaxoSmithKline Consumer is ranked at No.14.

IT, BPO and Consulting giant Wipro is ranked at No.13.
Consistently ranked among India's best companies to work for, Infosys ranks at No.12 in Fortune India's list of India's most admired companies

Ranked at No.11 is automotive technology, consumer goods and industrial technology producer, Bosch.

Multinational computer technology corporation Dell India is ranked at No. 10 in Fortune India's Most Admired Companies list.

Ninth-ranked IBM India was recently also rated as one of India's best 10 to work for

At No 8 is Larsen & Toubro, one of India's biggest technology, engineering, construction, technology, manufacturing and financial services company.

No.7: Starting off with manufacturing Cigarettes, the Indian Tobacco Company has now ventured into the business of Hotels, Paperboards & Specialty Papers, Packaging, Agri-Business, Packaged Foods & Confectionery, Information Technology, Branded Apparel, Personal Care, Stationery, Safety Matches and other FMCG products.

At No.6. is Tata Motors, leading the rankings in the automotive industry.

Fifth-ranked Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has ranked top among companies in the IT, ITES, BPO industry.

Think chocolate, and you are most likely to think Cadbury. The company is ranked at No.4 in the list of Fortune India's Most Admired Companies.

Trusted for its range of products for dental care, personal care, home care and professional oral care, Colgate Palmolive has been rated the third most admired company in India.

India's largest fast-moving consumer goods company Hindustan Unilever is ranked at No.2.

Tata Steel has topped the list, becoming India's most admired company.
